A Shopping Day

We got a lot of sun on Wednesday. Judi was pretty well cooked. So on Thursday we only went out for an hour or so early, and then shopped for the rest of the day. Since I don't have any pictures of us shopping, I've posted a few Art Deco pictures on this page.

Our first stop was WalMart. "WalMart?" you ask. "You drove all the way to Miami to shop at WalMart?" Well, Judi was looking for a pair of shoes that we hadn't been able to find locally.

Can you believe there are only four WalMarts in all of Dade County? I mean, we have four WalMarts where we live in Brevard County, and we have only one-tenth the population! What's with this, anyway?

With only four WalMarts, we had to venture into the northern and western parts of Dade, where we had never been before. The result was that we:

  • Got Judi's shoes (hooray!)
  • Bought Judi a skirt and some dresses (not at WalMart)
  • Had a wonderful lunch at a place called La Fogata

Lunch consisted of churrasco, concerning which La Fogata claimed to have the best in Miami. Churrasco is a pounded flank steak, spiced and grilled. At La Fogata, it is truly delicious -- juicy and flavorful. It was served with three different sauces -- we liked the basil sauce the best. And Judi's lunch included a wonderful sausage -- it might or might not have been chorizo -- that was even better than the churrasco.

Successful shopping and successful eating -- what more could we ask for?

Maybe less traffic.... <g>
