Another Beach Day

Looking a Tender in the Mouth
The Norway is too big to dock at any port in the Carribean, so how did we get off and on the ship? There are two small ships called tenders stored on the Norway's bow. A crane puts these over the side and into the water at each port of call. The tenders ferry passengers to and from the shore.

Each tender can hold about 400 people per trip -- and they really pack you in! It's like a New York subway with sunshine <g>.

I have a picture of a tender here, and another of the mouth of a tender. This tender is beached on Great Stirrup Cay, which is NCL's private island in the Bahamas. All of NCL's ships call at Great Stirrup Cay, and the crew comes ashore with the passengers and they have a big barbeque.

The beach isn't actually all that big. You have to get ashore on one of the early tenders to get a good spot. But you can rent a raft and float in the water, and it's pretty great. They also have snorkelling equipment.

I don't know what else to say....
