A Tour of the Ship
Restaurants and Lounges

Spiral Stair in the Leeward Dining Room Of course there were lots of restaurants, dining rooms, bars, and lounges. The first picture on this page is the famous spiral staircase in the Leeward Dining Room (which was not our dining room). There's a picture of the two of us standing on this staircase under the Formal Nights topic.

We only had dinner in our dining room on the two formal nights. The food was pretty-much excellent. Two other couples were assigned to our table. One was a young Army captain accompanying his French mother. He was open and friendly. He told us that he was a low-level officer in Military Intelligence. I've often thought about him, since September 11th. I'll bet he's busy now!

His mother had apparently met and married his father while he was stationed in France in the service. She was always bouyant and beaming. Well... almost always. Once she had a heated argument with the matré regarding the order in which courses should be served. Another time she was distressed because the escargot weren't served with drawn butter.

She was right.

North Cape LoungeDespite her age, she had come on this cruise especially to get in some serious snorkelling. She was sophisticated and fun at the same time.

We enjoyed their company a great deal.

The North Cape Lounge, pictured here, was the largest gathering space on the Norway (except for the theater). This is where the Bingo games were held, and the Latitudes Club reception. This was also the site of the East-West Showdown, which is the subject of a different page....
